A Word From Our Owner

I bought my first fly rod at Clearwater.
A few years ago my parents sent me a crappy little fly box and a check for my birthday and said Ðstart fishing again. Not long after, I wandered into Clearwater looking for my first fly rod. First fly rod? Did he say, first fly rod? Yes, my first fly rod. You see my family shares. Until then I had only fished with my family. We used communal equipment and fished together. The rods under the front counter at Clearwater are the rods I grew up fishing. They were my great-grandfatherÕs, grandfathersÕ, and fatherÕs. It always felt like an honor to fish with those poles.

November 15th 2003 I walked into Clearwater as the new owner. The first thing my sister said after I told her I was thinking about purchasing Clearwater Fly Shop: A fly fisherman and a lobbyist, how will you ever get anything done? Not a bad question. I believe our first year is showing there is a good answer to that question. Not only can we get something done, we get a lot done.

We believe mid-Missouri deserves a place that is more than just piles of fly fishing equipment. We want to develop something more both in services and in character. That is why Clearwater Fly Shop is now Clearwater Outfitters. We do more than sell you a rod and reel. We are here to prepare you for the water. We are here to help you catch fish.

From better coffee to better product there are a lot of new things happening at the store. If you have been in you have surely noticed. If you havenÕt been in lately, you are missing out. I believe there is a strong future for Clearwater Outfitters.

I certainly hope there are many in the future who will also say, "I bought my first rod at Clearwater."
